The practical side

Our guests are spread across the whole city. What has to be on the invitation?
The neighbourhood name, not just the street address, because a San Diego guest judges the drive by neighbourhood before they open a map. Add the parking situation in one line, since street parking in the denser central and downtown areas is the single most common reason people arrive late or cross. If the venue is a flat or a building with a gate, tell guests how to get in. Those three lines prevent almost every message you would otherwise field on the day.
We are hosting in a condo, not a garden. Does that change the invitation?
It changes what the invitation has to carry more than how it looks. With over half the city's housing being flats and condominiums, a fixed capacity is normal, so the card should be clear about who is invited, whether children are included and whether it is a drop-in or a seated event. An honest end time helps too, because shared roof decks and common rooms often have one. Getting that on the card early saves you turning people away in person.
