Thirty-five to forty inches of rain and frequent winter snow mean a December date is a gamble, and if you must hold one, the invitation should carry a plain weather-and-road line.

Say plainly that it is a steep mountain road and give an honest driving time from wherever most guests are starting. Ask people to arrive in daylight if the party runs into the evening, because coming down after dark is the part guests underestimate. In winter months a line about checking conditions before setting off is fair rather than alarmist. I set all of this as a short block under the address so it reads as directions, not warnings.
We are worried about snow closing the road on our date. Can the invitation handle a backup plan?
It can, and with a hundred-plus freeze nights a year it should if your date sits anywhere near winter. The cleanest form is one date on the card and a single line saying where guests will be told if conditions change, usually a text from you. Do not print two dates with equal weight, because that is the version guests get wrong. If the date is genuinely weather-dependent, digital files let you resend a corrected invitation the same morning.
